What to Expect

If this is your first time receiving acupuncture, I want to tell you exactly what to expect on your visit.

The office is located at 150 Old Laramie Trail E, Suite 120, Lafayette, CO 80026.

Suite 120 is the South Pointe Healthcare suite on the lower level of the last building on the left.

You'll be welcomed by a quaint lounge area and front desk. Help yourself to tea or water and take a deep breath. You're in good hands.

Treatment Room

This room is for you to heal.

The room is clean and comfortable. New sheets are always provided for each client. There is a heating lamp and blankets if needed.

In the first few minutes, we'll go over your overall health, concerns, and what kind of treatment we'll do.

 It's best to:

  • wear comfortable & loose clothing.

  • eat before appointment.

  • limit coffee as it is a stimulant.

  • relax to receive the treatment.

  • breathe deeply as it aids in connecting you to your body.

Treatment

Acupuncture aids in the healing of your mind, body and emotional health. You may feel a sense of deep peace and calm.

The needles I use are very small, and most people don't feel them at all. I also use sesame seeds which have water energy and help the body's flow. They are applied with hypoallergenic tape and may last for a few days post-treatment.

Some people sense a release through tears, or total relaxation and fall asleep.

That means your body is doing what it's supposed to!

Deep restoration happens when acupuncture shifts your body away from the fight-or-flight (sympathetic) state and toward the rest-and-digest (parasympathetic) one.

This is healing state is where you can get the most benefit from your treatment.

This healing continues for the next 24 hours.

Post Treatment

Our bodies are wonderfully designed and capable of healing!

Sometimes the road to healing can feel like an uphill climb with two steps forward and one step back.  Many people report feeling amazing after the first time they experience acupuncture. They feel temporary relief for the first time in a long time. Then, the sessions after begin doing a deeper work and it can feel like a setback, but I assure you, it’s not.

If you are suffering from a chronic illness or consistent stress, treatments may cause you to feel as if you’re experiencing a “let down.” This is common! It also means you're on the path to healing and health.

Common symptoms of this “let down:”

  • Feeling tired, needing to rest more

  • Feeling sluggish for 24 hours

  • Symptoms worse before they get better

Things you can to aid in the process of healing

  • REST! Listen to your body, let yourself rest. Take a nap, plan to go to bed earlier

  • Drink water.

  • Eat things that are easy to digest. If your body is trying to use energy doing the deeper healing it needs, it’s important to not exert energy digesting heavy meats and processed foods. Try steamed vegetables, simple meals, sweet potatoes, rice, and broths.

There are very few serious side effects of acupuncture but if you are concerned please reach out. We can discuss if what you are experiencing needs further attention or if there are some other approaches we can take to help your body process.

Your body is the boss. We will do our best to listen to it and together we can go to a place beyond surviving and into thriving!
